Since our establishment in 1967, we embarked on a journey of importing and distributing hair products to local drugstores.

Over the years, our growth extended to encompass all major retailers in Canada. Venturing into manufacturing, we proudly created enduring brands like African Gold.Becoming a pivotal distributor to major Canadian chains, we forged our path in the industry.

In 1990, the emergence of the Calypso brand marked a significant milestone, offering a range of Hair Accessories and Hair Products. In 1998, as part of our evolution, we divested the Distribution company while retaining key brands – African Gold, Calypso, and Shekina. Shekina, with its brand Golden Queen, thrived in Canadian stores, specializing in human and synthetic weaves, wigs, ponytails and braids as well beauty supply products. Simultaneously, our Hair Accessories business expanded across North America.

Calypso Hair Accessories gained prominence in major US chains, showcasing our commitment to excellence. Transitioning into manufacturing, we introduced the premium brand African Diamond. Following a successful re-merging with Shekina, our unified entity thrives under the Hargell umbrella.

Today, we have diversified our offerings to feature a comprehensive line of Hair Braids and additional Hair Products, solidifying our position in the industry.
